Overview
The Churchill House website is a responsive site built to convey information about Robin Boyd and his brutalist building Churchill House, located on Northbourne Avenue in Canberra.
Background
Created as an assignment for a Front-End Web unit, the Churchill House site is a HTML and CSS only site, designed to deliver information in a clean and informative way. A strong focus was placed on semantic HTML in this project.
Solution
The Churchill House website is a four-page static website built in HTML and CSS. We were required to create a design which was easy to read and understand, but also met the style of the architect, Robin Boyd. Robin Boyd was an influential architect in the International Modernist Movement in Australian architecture. The site is designed to be clean and minimal, using types and colours that attempt to encompass the brutalist style of Churchill House.
Semantic HTML is used throughout the site to ensure the code is readable, as well as accessible. Vanilla CSS was used to help learn many core functions of modern CSS, such as Flex and Grid.
